New York Soccer Referee’s equipment
The members of the New York Soccer Referee Academy have got very nice equipment for referees and their trainers.
Found the picture below on the Facebook page of the New York Soccer Referee Academy. I was wondering if this was a new Adidas referee kit, so I send a message.
Their reply:
This is the equipment for the referees but not for the games. The blue one is for presentations in the differents fields and the yellow one is for the trainer. We use the USSF uniforms and Adidas too for the games.
I like the idea of offering nice clothing for your referees, something which is not common in The Netherlands. The referees of the New York Soccer Referee Academy can wear it not only when giving presentations, but also before a match when arriving at a football pitch.
That’s what made me think of a blog post in the near future about how referees should present themselves before matches. Already posted the following tweet – would be kind if you reply or retweet – and got a few replies. Want to get a few more. Do you know guidelines by your local FA? Please let me know.
Working on a blog story about what to wear as referee when you go to your match. Suit? Jeans? Does your FA have guidelines?

We are given one training top each, as we are sponsored, so we all warm up in the same kit. We also get a blue, logo’ed polo shirt to arrive in. We have to wear black pants and shoes as well as a ‘bench jacket’ also logo’ed. Three different colour match shirts, shorts and socks are also provided.
