Inside No. 9 – The Referee’s a w***er

Inside No. 9 – The Referee’s a w***er. Just some fun to watch, aired on the BBC in 2020. But although it’s not a real-life documentary, it gives you some interesting insights.

You’ll see experienced refs who keeps talking about his heyday, interesting match preparation and appearance and referees who have difficulties keeping his authority. Probably you’ll get something out of it – besides a good laugh!

What to expect

Internet Movie Database  IMDB describes Inside No.9 as “Anthology series which mixes dark humor with genres like crime, horror or drama.”

Because every season has another topic, I only highlight this one. “The final day of the football season and it has all come down to the last match – the crunch clash between United and Rovers – all safely in the hands of the four match officials”, that’s how IMDB describes the episode.

It starts with an interesting quote from Bill Shankly. “”Some people thing football is a matter of lief and death. I don’t like that attitude. Ican assure you it’s much more serious than that.” And that shows the importance of this match.

Just have some fun with these referees. And you might be able to learn some things as well – even if it are things you DON’T want to do during your games.
