Cakir only new Elite referee for 2011/2012 season

The only new referee on Uefa’s Elite list for 2011/2012 season is Cüneyt Cakir. He replaces Martin Hansson who relegated two groups.

Pavel Kralovec from Czech Republic is the only new official in the Elite Development group, the new name of the Premier Development group. Bruno Miguel Duarte Paixao from Portugal and Christian Balaj from Romania relegated from that category to the ‘First Group’.

Uefa has reviewed it’s referee categories, which makes it a little differnt. New ranks are: Elite, Elite Development, First, Second and Third. That means most groups got renamed, and the Premier group was removed. Referees from that category are now re-allocated to either Elite Development or First Category. Kralovec is the only one who moved up, the others all went to First.

Read more about the review of categories on Law 5 – The referee.

Full lists for Elite, Elite development, First, Second and Third available in next hour.

New international referee list: Blom and Rocchi Elite

Uefa has released the new international referee list to the Dutch Referee blog. Kevin Blom (NED) and Gianluca Rocchi (ITA) are new on the Elite list of European referees.

They replace Manuel Enrique Mejuto Gonzalez, who reached the age limit, and Tom Henning Øvrebø, who quits international refereeing after he was not picked for the World Cup in South Africa. He was non-eligible for Euro 2012 due to Uefa’s age limit of 45.

Update Uefa: “Fifa will replace Rosetti in January for another Italian referee. Uefa has no country quota’s, so everyone could replace him.” On Thursday 8th of July Roberto Rosetti announced that he stops refereeing in favour of an administrative role in the Serie B (2nd level in Italy) with the Association of Italian Referees. He was still age-eligible for Euro 2012 and on Uefa’s Elite list.

Genov was not punished and now his status has been put on ‘active’ it seems he can officiate international matches in his last year as football referee. Genov is age-eligible untill the end of 2011. Read more about the disciplinary actions take by Uefa to other referees in an interview with Uefa’s general secretary Gianni Infantino.
