Cakir only new Elite referee for 2011/2012 season

The only new referee on Uefa’s Elite list for 2011/2012 season is Cüneyt Cakir. He replaces Martin Hansson who relegated two groups.

Pavel Kralovec from Czech Republic is the only new official in the Elite Development group, the new name of the Premier Development group. Bruno Miguel Duarte Paixao from Portugal and Christian Balaj from Romania relegated from that category to the ‘First Group’.

Uefa has reviewed it’s referee categories, which makes it a little differnt. New ranks are: Elite, Elite Development, First, Second and Third. That means most groups got renamed, and the Premier group was removed. Referees from that category are now re-allocated to either Elite Development or First Category. Kralovec is the only one who moved up, the others all went to First.

Read more about the review of categories on Law 5 – The referee.

Full lists for Elite, Elite development, First, Second and Third available in next hour.

The biggest loss for this list is Vladimir Pettai, a 38-year-old referee from Russia who died in a plane crash. New on the list are: Andris Treimanis from Latvia, Sergejus Slyva from Lithuania and Eika Saar from Estonia. These are not on the latest list, but according to Fifa.com Slyva is an international referee since 2007.

  1. Pingback: Uefa updates list for new season

  2. Finally, UEFA announced it :S
I wonder why Einwaller and Duhamel are still there, Blom’s promotion last year was, let us say, a bit surprising in my opinion..

  3. Benquerença is this year the number 19 of 25 referees.
However for UEFA, Benquerença is one important referee.
    Contradictions of UEFA………

  4. The list above is just in alphabetical order of country names. Benquerença is not on 19th spot in hierarchy. I don’t think Uefa will release a list with the marks of the referees. If you’re interested, I can look up my browsing history and send you the link of the Spanish average marks.

  5. Ow sorry, I thought he was number 19 on the Uefa list, but it’s on the Portugese list. Thanks for mentioning!

Do you know if he had some bad matches this year in Portugal?
